Same Day Crowns with CEREC Primescan and Primemill
At Parkview Dental, we always stay up to date with the most recent advancements in dental technology. Incorporating the latest techniques and tools allows us to provide minimally invasive, world-class dental care to our patients. We are thrilled to offer the latest dental technologies including CEREC for Same Day Crowns.
If you choose to have a restoration that utilizes CEREC, you’ll be amazed at the speed and results of the dental work. While you wait for your customized, tooth-colored restoration, you can listen to music, watch a movie/TV, or even tap a short nap. Our patients enjoy the benefit of having a complete repair done in just a few hours.
That’s why we have invested in a CEREC Primescan® — the latest technology for scanning the teeth and the entire jaw area
What is CEREC®?
CEREC® stands for “Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics.” The system uses computer-aided design (CAD) technology and software to design and create permanent dental restorations like crowns, veneers, onlays, and more. The machine itself includes a camera, computer, and milling instrument.
In the past, making single tooth restorations required multiple visits, but with CEREC® it takes only minutes. You can get a crown, for example, in only one visit! Plus, it also means we don’t have to take physical impressions of your teeth, since CEREC® uses digital imaging.
The CEREC scanner uses a camera to create detailed digital images of your mouth. With traditional impressions, you hold a tray full of sticky materials in your mouth until it hardens around your teeth. Primescan isn’t like that at all. There’s no messy materials and no uncomfortable tray. Just a small, handheld camera that we use to scan your entire mouth in a few seconds, and most importantly of all, it increases patient comfortable and reduces the stress of going the dentist.
How CEREC® Prime Scan benefits our patients
Not only does the Prime Scan help us provide a better dental experience for our patients, but it also helps us deliver the best possible results with the highest quality restorations that look and feel natural. Here’s what you can expect if you make an appointment at Timberhill Dental:
-
Scans are quick, easy, and minimally invasive.
-
Since most restorations can be done in a single visit, there’s typically no need to apply a temporary.
-
You get beautiful, accurate, and well-fitting restorations, night guards, retainers, and more.
-
We won’t need to make as many adjustments when we actually place your restoration (if any are necessary at all).
What is the CEREC Primemill?
CEREC Primemill is a revolutionary milling machine that is fast and extremely accurate. With the Primemill, you’ll have the opportunity to receive your new restorations on the same day we scan your teeth. Once the machine begins to create the restoration, it will be only minutes before it finishes the final result. Zirconia crowns take just five minutes!
Primemill uses an extra-fine 0.5mm tool to craft dental restorations with very high detail and smoothness. When your scan is completed, we will give that information to the milling machine. It will interpret the scan and craft the restoration exactly to how it should fit in your mouth.
This high level of detail means your new dental restorations will feel as comfortable as possible when placed, and if there is a need for adjustments later, they should be very minimal. You might not need adjustments at all!
Dental technology is reaching new heights with the CEREC Primemill. Here are some of the benefits you can expect when we use if for your next restoration:
