Infection Control
At Parkview Dental of Westfield, NJ, we take sterilization and infection control very seriously. Everyone (you, your dental team) benefits from strict implementation of infection control protocols. Our sanitary standards create a worry-free environment that extends comfort even after your visit. Sterilization and the prevention of illness should be a concern of all dental offices.
We routinely review and if necessary upgrade our infection control protocols and adhere to guidelines recommended by ADA. Some of the techniques we employ include:
-
Wearing gloves, masks, and protective eyewear during each patient examination and treatment
-
Sterilizing all instruments in an autoclave or ultrasonic cleaner after every use
-
Cleaning and sanitizing each exam room fixture regularly, including chemical disinfection of countertops and surfaces
-
Frequent testing of the sterilization equipment by outsize agency to ensure the effectiveness of equipment
-
Properly disposal of all products that can not be sterilized
-
Covering patient chairs, x-ray units, and light handles with disposable plastic wraps
-
Using filtered water supplied to dental hand-pieces and air/water syringes
-
Using distilled water for surgical procedures
We sterilize dental instruments, including dental hand pieces. We use an autoclave, a device that kills bacteria and viruses by steam, heat and pressure.
The best defense against disease is information. The more you know, the better equipped you are to make wise decisions about your health care. The more you know about our daily procedures and policies, the more comfortable you will feel.
